Giovanni Batista Piranesi ( 1720-1778 ), was an Italian Classical archaeologist, architect, and artist, famous for his etchings of Rome's classical edifices set amid fantastic vistas and of imaginary and atmospheric "prisons."

Although these are not technically maps, these are interesting and beautiful offerings nevertheless. Let me know what you feel about this stunning collection. Your comments are appreciated.
